Dr. Neda Norouzi is an accomplished Associate Professor at the UTSA School of Architecture and Planning, specializing in healthcare facilities planning, mental health environments, and universal design. With dual master’s degrees in Architecture and Urban Regional Planning, and a Ph.D. in Architecture and Design Research, Dr. Norouzi brings a multidisciplinary approach to advancing mental wellness through built environments. Her research focuses on innovative strategies to support children and adolescents, especially individuals experiencing mental illness, by shaping inclusive, healing spaces that foster well-being and community engagement.
Dr. Norouzi has published and presented nationally on topics including trauma-sensitive architecture, restorative environments for neurodiverse populations, and evidence-based design for mental healthcare. She actively mentors emerging scholars, leads award-winning design collaborations, and is recognized for her leadership in diversity, equity, and inclusion. Through her teaching, research, and practice, Dr. Norouzi is dedicated to translating research insights into practical design solutions that empower patients, families, and practitioners to thrive.
