About me
Janell Garcia is currently serving as the Project Director for the Bexar County System of Care within the Bexar County Public and Behavioral Health Department. She possesses over ten years of experience working collaboratively with families, stakeholders, community partners, elected officials, and public officials in various capacities. Her passion for community service was cultivated during her tenure at BCFS, formerly known as Baptist Child and Family Services, where she held multiple roles and began her career. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, with minors in Special Education and Reading, as well as a Master’s Degree in Administration and Communications, both earned from the University of the Incarnate Word.
Ms. Garcia also brings extensive experience in training, professional development, and public speaking. She has led citywide initiatives and served on various planning committees aimed at serving the community on a larger scale. In alignment with her dedication to education and community service, she also has training in Emergency Management, with a focus on school safety and community preparedness. Prior to her current role with Bexar County, she was appointed Public Engagement Officer for the San Antonio Fire Department at the Emergency Operations Center. In this capacity, she effectively facilitated communication and collaboration among school districts, community partners, residents, and various city departments.
